During my trip to France this Summer we visited three cities Paris, Provence and Nice. If you’re thinking about planning a trip to France, I would recommend to start in Paris and travel down to the coast stopping in Provence to end in the coastal town of Nice. You’ll experience three very different ways of French life which are all majestic in their own way.
Provence was breathtakingly gorgeous, getting to experience the French countryside and a slowed down pace of life. Domaine de Fontenille is tucked away in the hills of Lauris, as you come upon it you’ll find a charming hotel with rooms ranging in size and expansive grounds, two restaurants and views meant to be captured by watercolor. This place has become so special to me and I couldn’t be happier that my friend’s came across it while we were planning our itinerary. Truly a stunning find!
Domaine De Fontenille
Needing a break from the city life this hotel is the perfect stop and has so much to offer from horseback riding to yoga, fine dining to spa treatments, wine tasting to pool lounging. Every way you could possibly want to unwind is accessible. Wondering the halls and epic staircase of the hotel made me feel like I was in a movie, a princess wandering the halls of our family’s chateau, perhaps? Every moment spent in this hotel was like a scene directly out of my dreams.
I felt like I was in a Disney movie being one with the butterflies and bumblebees as I walked through the rose gardens fully entranced with the beauty and tranquility I was experiencing. I’m not even the most outdoorsy girly and I was enjoying every minute of being outside among nature, listening to the birds sing and sitting in the grass. I finally understand why walks through the garden were all the rage back in the Downton Abbey days. Add a glass of wine and we have nailed my opinion of perfection.
Domaine is also a vineyard serving their in house wine which is absolutely delicious and you can’t visit Provence and not have a glass of rose! The grounds have a fully operating spa, bikes for rent and curated wine tastings. If you’re an animal lover like me, there’s adorable resident donkeys and sheep you can go visit whilst taking a walk along the trails.

On- site dining
There are two restaurants on property Le Champ de Lunes and La Cuisine d’Amélie. La Cuisine d’Amélie is there daily operating restaurant located on the main terrace with a gorgeous view of the fountain and gardens. Operating for breakfast 8:30-10:30, lunch 12:30-2:30 and for dinner from 7:30-9:30 and you don’t want to miss a reservation between those times. Let me tell you these are some of the best meals from perfectly cooked salmon to scrambled eggs that taste like heaven.
Le Champ de Lunes is there Michelin star restaurant that was only open for reservations Thursday- Saturday I believe so we weren’t able to dine there as our hotel stay was not during that portion of the week but from what I saw from photos, it’s definitely and experience we would want go back for. I’m also seeing that over the summer they’re offering a catered dinner experience in the roseraie amongst the flowers that I’m sad to have missed out on! The point being the food is absolutely delicious and if you happen to be staying in the area and not at the hotel, make sure to get reservations to have an amazing dining experience!

Alphonse de Savornin Suite
I can’t deny, I love a nice hotel room and since this was our “catch your breath” relaxation part of the trip, sometimes it’s nice to splurge a little. This room was absolute perfection for being on a group trip, an area downstairs for entertaining with its own private terrace and a beautiful wooden staircase leading to the bedroom upstairs. Private and perfect.

Domain de Fontenille is a little piece of heaven that I can’t wait to go back to. I recently found out that they have multiple properties in France, Italy and Spain which I will absolutely be keeping in mind when booking my next European vacation. The service was impeccable, the staff was so warm, welcoming and extremely helpful and the experience was unforgettable giving memories to last forever. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more!
